In the heart of Dusit Thani Bangkokβs Grand Lobby, two magnificent 10-ton columns stand as living masterpiecesβadorned with intricate Thai mural art that bridges tradition and modernity of 1970s. These remarkable works, originally created for the former Benjarongrestaurant by the esteemed AjarnPaiboon Suwannakudt, also known as Than Kudt, date back to 1970. A visionary of his time, AjarnPaiboon infused age-old Thai artistic motifs with a contemporary sensibility, using vivid colours and innovative patterns that redefined Thai mural art.
Β
Following the careful preservation of these columns when the original hotel closed, they now grace our Grand Lobby, serving as a powerful symbol of heritage, continuity, and artistic excellence.
