A true cult figure in the Japanese underground, DJ HIKARU is a master of the "Freeform" style. His journey began at the legendary Koenji GRASSROOTS—the epicenter of Tokyo’s alternative music scene—where he served as the long-time resident DJ, honing a craft that is as deep as it is wide.

Now based in Okinawa, Hikaru is celebrated for his unparalleled ability to weave together a sonic tapestry that defies boundaries. From Deep House and Techno to Dub, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Psychedelic world music, he blends the "all-mix" philosophy with a surgical precision that feels entirely natural. His style isn't just eclectic; it is a deep, soulful exploration of sound that has earned him the nickname "The Human Intersection."

Beyond the decks, he is one-half of the acclaimed production duo BLAST HEAD, whose albums have been championed by icons like EYE (Boredoms) and Chari Chari. His prolific career includes producing for J-Pop avant-garde queen UA, collaborating with tha BOSS (THA BLUE HERB), and releasing the globally-distributed mix “HIGH PSY” in 2012.
